Remembering Groucho 40 Years Later

Aug 19, 2017 | Authors, Movies, Television

One of my comedy heroes, Groucho Marx died 40 years ago today. Over the years, I’ve discussed him with several guests, and you might want to listen to some of them:

  • Robert Bader, author of a book about the Marx Brothers before they were movie stars (8/17).
  • Shep Gordon, the talent manager who worked with Groucho towards the end of his life (11/5/16).
  • David Steinberg on how he struck up an unusual friendship with Groucho (5/2/15).
  • Dick Cavett on having Groucho on his ABC late-night show in the early 70s (10/13/06).
  • Gabe Kaplan on his relationship with Groucho and how he almost appeared on “Welcome Back, Kotter” (3/22/01)
