Ari Teman, a comedian in New York City, was going out of town for the weekend, so he used AirBnB.com to rent his apartment to a guy named David Carter, who said he was in the city for a wedding. Ari checked David out and saw he had what seemed like a legitimate AirBnB account with three positive reviews, so he gave him the apartment keys and left. But a couple of hours later, Ari realized he’d forgotten a bag, so he went back to his building and discovered that David wasn’t using the apartment as a quiet place to crash. Instead, it had been turned into the site of a “BBW Panty Raid Party.”
On my America Weekend show, Ari explained what he found when he returned, how his apartment was ransacked, how much damage was done, and how AirBnB treated him when he complained.
