Known as The Amazing Randi during his years as a magician, he's long been the top investigator of psychic and paranormal claims. In this appearance, he tells Paul about the winners of his 2005 Pigasus Awards for bogus claims relating to the supernatural, paranormal and occult. Listen to the conversation here and read Randi's rundown here.
After ABC News devoted an hour to a Brazilian man who claims to be a faith healer and calls himself "John Of God," Randi was so incensed that he went on Paul's show on 2/11/05 to rebut the claims and point out the shoddy job of journalism done by reporter John Quinones and the "Primetime Live" producers -- who ignored Randi's warnings about the fakery inherent in the claims made. Listen to the conversation here. A week later, Randi posted his in-depth analysis and explanation of the show on his site.
In an earlier appearnce [3/2/04], Randi took on Sylvia Browne, one of many self-proclaimed psychics who claim to be able to speak to the dead. Of course, she has never offered any definitive proof, because she can't. She did agree, on CNN, to take Randi's Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, but has never lived up to that promise. Instead, she's been spreading lies about Randi, who went on Paul's show to fire back at her. Randi and Paul also discussed why law enforcement does nothing about these frauds.
In another appearance [8/15/03], Randi talked with Paul about some who have tried to win the Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, how there are psychic believers all over the world, and much more -- including his 1978 appearance on "Happy Days," in which he taught Henry Winkler how to do the classic Milk Can Escape. Randi and Paul also talk about cryogenics and other things.
