Cannon Fodder

posted at 11:18 PM
As heard on my KMOX show today, the story of the teenager whose life has been threatened by people in his community, after the ceremonial cannon they use before football games exploded and nearly blew his leg off. They're more interested in preserving the tradition than making sure he's okay -- only three people in the whole town of Snohomish, Washington, have gone to visit him while he recovers. But many more have sent him threatening notes and phone calls, warning him not to cooperate with an investigation into the incident which might lead to banning the use of a cannon at the games.

Let them keep the cannon but don't let the students make the thing again. Better yet, the school should get a really big cannon, and for ammunition use the idiot(s) who authorized the exploded cannon's continued use after it had been X-rayed.
