Back To The Moon
posted at 4:51 PM
Phil Plait returned to my KMOX show today to talk about NASA's plans to put humans back on the moon by 2020 and set up a permanent base there by 2024. He explained the science that can still be done there, whether the base could be self-sufficient (rather than constantly having to bring food and supplies from Earth), and how this could be a launching point for further adventures in space, including a trip to Mars.
Listen.
Phil, an astronomer at Sonoma State University, is the author of "Bad Astronomy" and has more on this story on his blog.
